Bebb’s Buses: A Piece of Llantwit Fardre’s Transport History

For much of the 20th century, Bebb’s Buses later known as Bebb Travel was a familiar sight on the roads of Llantwit Fardre and the wider Pontypridd area. A family run operator, Bebb’s provided school transport, local bus routes, and private coach hire, becoming part of everyday life for generations of residents.
Based in the heart of the village, the company built a reputation for reliability and community service. Their minibuses and coaches were a staple of school runs, day trips, and local travel long before large national operators dominated the region.
In 2005, Bebb’s was purchased by Veolia Transport, becoming part of a wider network of Welsh bus companies. The Bebb name continued for a short time under Veolia’s ownership, but by the mid‑2010s the company had been fully absorbed and eventually dissolved as Veolia withdrew from Wales.
Although Bebb’s Buses no longer operates today, its legacy remains woven into local memory. For many in Llantwit Fardre, the sight of a Bebb’s coach pulling up outside a school or community hall is still a fond reminder of a time when local transport truly felt local.
I worked for Bebb from 84-94 and 99-04.
They were an excellent employer.
